DOES NOT FIT DE ENGINES. View this listing for the DE model. The factory exhaust will always have restrictions and these restrictions are normally highest near where the catalytic converter is found. The Invidia 370Z Decat Test Pipe Kit uses a larger pipe diameter and smooth bends which allows exhaust gases to pass with fewer restrictions and turbulence. A High-Flow catalytic converter is then utilised to still control emissions for street driving legalities but with minimal impact to exhaust flow. In some cases Invidia will also offer catless versions for off-road use where every ounce of performance is required. To withstand the high temperatures laser cut cast steel flanges are used to ensure long lasting leak free reliability. This is a 100% bolt on installation for right-hand drive vehicles with no modifications or changes required. Factory O2 sensor locations are also retained where required to ensure compatibility with factory systems.

Far more engineering goes in to the design of an exhaust system than many realise. From a performance perspective, there is a fine balance between exhaust back pressure and exhaust gas velocity. Too large a diameter pipe, and low down power and torque is sacrificed (particularly on naturally aspirated cars), too small a diameter or added restrictions and bottle necks in the system, and the engine is unable to push gasses out of the combustion chamber efficiently, reducing power and torque. There are many other technical aspects such as "scavenging effect" which are beyond the scope of this document, but the point is, it's not as simple as just strap on a drain pipe and gains for days.
